Town and Villages

Ascoli Piceno, is only an hour’s drive and well worth a visit if nothing else to visit the Place Popolo, one of Italy ‘s finest squares, admire the architecture and visit the galleries. For the lovers of opera, Macerata with its world famous open air amphitheatre is also only a short drive. Other larger historic towns worth visiting include Fermo, Loreto with its stunning basilica, and Jesi, at the epicentre of this famous wine growing area. For the more adventurous a visit to Urbino, the birthplace of the Renaissance and now an important university town. With its’ history, fine buildings and architecture, it is a must.

Locally the smaller market towns include Amandola and Sarnano, at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains , which are both about 25 minutes drive. Market Days which are Wednesday and Thursday respectively, are well worth a visit. Also worth a visit, is Servigliano, an unusual walled town built in a rectangular grid pattern during the 18th century.

And then there are endless small medieval hill towns and villages that are so characteristic of the region…Santa Vittoria in Matenano, Montefalcone Appennino, Montelparo, Monte San Martino, Penne San Giovanni….the list goes on and on. They all have their own history, charm and beauty and are just wonderful for leisurely exploring or sitting outside cafes and people watching!

Casa Pero is located in a quiet hamlet, close to the picturesque hill towns of Montefalcone Apeninno and Santa Vittoria, in the foothills of the Sibillini Mountains. It has comfortably furnished, centrally heated accommodation for up to 7 guests. It is south facing, and therefore enjoys plenty of sunshine, with tranquil views across the small valley to an olive grove and wooded hillside beyond.
